Thoughts on research methods in philosophy, Chapter 25

Topics are as followed:

  1. Let the code shine me

  2. From programming to philosophy

Let’s talk about the first topic: Let the code shine me.

Maybe we know a famous quote from Linus Torvalds: “Talk is cheap. Show me the code.” Impressive words, I think.

I guess, this quote, itself’s meaning to us like me, is not just a reminder, but also a serious warning. If I just say numerous meaningless words, and ignore the importance of writing or improving the code, am I wasting the time? Maybe sometimes I should criticize myself.

So, let the code shine me, let the shinning code flog me. I need the feeling of being criticized from the shinning code.

Let’s talk about the second topic: From programming to philosophy.

This article just talks a little about this huge topic. From machine code to program, from software to everyday life, it’s hard to imagine the life without computers. Meanwhile, different people have different attitudes towards the life, we may notice that philosophy is also important in our daily life.

I have an idea, that is building the bridge linking programming and philosophy. Imagine using codes to help study philosophy, may be a meaningful method.

But at least I have to be professional in programming. Still a long way.
